NEW COMMIT: Breaststroker and IMer Mihir Chandra of Ellisville, Mo. has given his verbal pledge to IUPUI and will arrive in Indianapolis at the start of the 2020-21 season.
Chandra swims year-round with Rockwood Swim Club and owns the Winter Juniors cut in the 100m breast. He most recently earned four best times at NCSAs this past summer where he finished 23rd in the 100m breast and 26th in the 50m breast after placing 13th in the 50m breast and 15th in the 200m IM at Jenks Sectionals. Last winter, he raced to fourth in the 50 breast at Columbia Sectionals before going on to notch a trio of lifetime bests at NCSAs.
His best times include:
- 50 breast – 26.60
- 100 breast – 57.35
- 200 breast – 2:08.13
- 200 IM – 1:54.81
- 400 IM – 4:05.98
When he suits up for the Jags as a member of the class of 2024, Chandra will add his talents to a training group led by Sam Hahs and Kevin Lingle. He would’ve scored in the B-final of the 100 breast at the 2019 Horizon League Championships where IUPUI finished fourth overall in the team standings and is just on the edge of scoring range in his other top events.
