William & Mary Earns Verbal Commitment from In-State Sprinter Kathryn Burr
NEW COMMIT: The College of William & Mary has received a new verbal commitment for their class of 2025 from in-state native Kathryn Burr of Crozet, Va.
She will join Cohasset, Nass. native Leigh Spicer in Williamsburg at the start of the 2021-22 season.
She told Swimming World:
“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at the College of William & Mary!! Thank you to my coaches, teammates, family, and friends for the endless love and support over the years. I can’t wait to be part of such an incredible program! Roll Tribe!! ??”
Burr currently does her club swimming with Cavalier Aquatics and is a seven-time YMCA Nationals qualifier and raced four events at YMCA Nationals in April 2019. Last summer, she recorded four best times at YMCA LCM Nationals.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.85
- 100 free – 52.26
- 200 free – 1:55.50
- 100 breast – 1:06.79
- 200 breast – 2:25.55
Also competing for Western Albemarle High School, Burr is a six-time Virginia Class 3 State Championship finalist. She place seventh in both the 50 free and 100 free as a junior while taking sixth in the 50 free and seventh in the 100 breast during her sophomore season.
She was also named Western Albemarle’s Women’s Swimming MVP for the 2019-20 season.
Burr will add valuable sprint depth to the Tribe’s lineup next fall and she’ll join a training group led by Missy Cundiff, Katie Stevenson, Anna Kenna, and Inez Olszewski. Under head coach Nate Kellogg, William & Mary finished second at the 2020 CAA Championships.
