NEW COMMIT: The University of Kentucky has earned a new verbal commitment for the fall of 2020 from talented breaststroker Tori Orcutt. Her older brother, Daniel Orcutt, is currently a junior on the Wildcats’ roster and the siblings will overlap for one season.

During her freshman year, she competed for Fort Walton Beach High School where she was a member of two podium-finishing relays at the Florida 2A State Championships. As a sophomore, she earned four silver medals at the Oklahoma 5A State meet for Booker T. Washington High School. Again competing for Fort Walton Beach, she grabbed bronze in the 100 breast at the 2A Championships as a junior.

Currently competing year-round with Coast Aquatics, Orcutt most recently raced six events at the Southeastern LCM Championships this past summer where her highest finish was a sixth-place showing in the 200m IM. Last winter, she earned three best times at Southeastern SCY Championships in February before a strong showing at NCSAs.

She told Swimming World:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Kentucky. I am so thankful for my family, friends, and coaches who helped me all the way. I’m especially thankful to Coach Lars and Kentucky for this opportunity. From the moment I set foot on campus, I was blown away by the amazing team atmosphere. I can’t wait to call Lexington home next year! Go cats!!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 breast – 30.89
  • 100 breast – 1:05.79
  • 200 breast – 2:23.85
  • 200 IM – 2:08.83

A multi-sport athlete in swimming, cross country, track, soccer, and modern pentathlon, Orcutt said she is “really looking forward to the opportunity to focus on swimming in college.” She is an All-American in modern pentathlon and a member of the U.S. Youth National Team. She competed in the Pan-American Youth Championships in Mexico and San Antonio, Texas, in addition to the 2018 Youth World Championships in Portugal.
