NEW COMMIT: Wheaton College in Massachusetts has gained a new commitment for the fall of 2019 from Cape Elizabeth, Maine native Hope Campbell.

Campbell does her club swimming with Coastal Maine Aquatics under head coach Marcel Da Ponte. She most recently raced at the New England Senior Championships and earned a trio of lifetime bests at Ithaca Speedo Sectionals in March. She was a five-time finalist at the 2017 Bowdoin Open and finaled in the 50m free at New England LCM Seniors. Campbell represented Cape Elizabeth High School at the Maine Class B State Championships during her freshman season where she finished seventh in the 100 free.

She told Swimming World:

“Wheaton is everything I could ask for! I am over the moon with excitement to continue my studies and swimming at Wheaton College. Looking forward to the next four years as a Lyon! Wahoo!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 24.18
  • 100 free – 54.22
  • 100 back – 59.08
  • 200 back – 2:13.26
  • 100 fly – 59.82

Campbell will make an immediate impact when she suits up for the Lyons as a member of the class of 2023. Her best 50 free and 100 back times would’ve scored in the A-final of the 2018 NEWMAC Championships while her 100 fly, 100 free and 200 back would’ve placed in the B-final.
