One of the greatest swims of the evening was Simone Manuel’s U.S. Open record in the women’s 100 free. Manuel touched first with a time of 52.54, effectively downing Mallory Comerford’s meet and U.S. Open record of 52.81 from 2017.

Justin Wright flew to his first national championship victory in the men’s 200 fly, punching his ticket to the Pan Pacific Championships with a time of 1:54.63. Wright succeeded in dropping close to a full second from his prelims time of 1:55.49.

While she did not make the ‘A’ final of the women’s 100 free, Katie Ledecky did garner her first national championship win of the meet in the women’s 800 free. Ledecky led the race from start-to-finish and touched first with a time of 8:11.98.
