Washington 4A Boys High School State Championships

FEDERAL WAY, Washington, March 4. KAMIAK won the Washington 4A Boys High School State Championships with a score of 222 points. Shorewood took second (206) and Gig Harbor finished third (201).

Individual Results
Kamiak won all three relays. Seniors Daniel Schmidt, Chris Lynch, Patrick Hunziker, and Tyler Carriker won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:38.56. The boys also combined for a first-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (3:13.82).

Richland's Cody Roberts won the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke (50.37). His 100 butterfly time of 47.81 surpassed Ugur Taner's (Newport) 1992 state record (48.14).

Bryan Michaels (Shorewood) won the 200 (1:39.64) and the 500 (4:31.55) freestyles.

Junior Garren Riechel (Snohomish) won the 50 freestyle (21.14). He also set a meet record in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 54.49.

Scmidt, Hunziker, Kris Bratvold, and Gus Brunner took first in the 200 freestyle relay (1:28.72).

Max Klassen (Redmond) finished first in the diving competition (452.90), while Randal Peltier (Davis) and T Fraychineaud (Beamer) took second (444.05) and third (418.20) respectively.
