Virginia to Host ASA University League National Champs
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia, September 2. VIRGINIA Club Swimming will host the Third Annual ASA University League National Championships in Charlottesville, Virginia on April 14-15, 2007 at the University of Virginia Aquatics and Fitness Center's state-of-the-art natatorium.
The collegiate club swimming league's ten returning teams will be joined in April by ASA U.'s newest club, a former varsity team, the University of Vermont's Men's Swimming Club. UVM Men's Swimming was eliminated as a varsity program in 2004. ASA U. is pleased to provide competitive swimming opportunities to former varsity squads and student-built swim clubs in the fight against the unfortunate wave of cuts in varsity swimming programs.
The American Swimming Association University League is an association of student-run swim clubs from colleges and universities across the United States that enjoy the sport of swimming in a friendly, competitive environment. ASA U. was founded in response to the elimination of so many collegiate varsity swimming teams across the country.
