Virginia Independent High School State Swimming and Diving Championships

MANASSAS, Virginia, February 18. 15 of 24 records were lowered at the VSIS Swimming and Diving Championships. On the girls side, St. Catherine's won with 308.50 points, while Trinity Episcopal and Collegiate placed second (233) and third (196) respectively. The Collegiate boys took first with 379.50 points, followed by Fork Union Military Academy (286) and Woodberry Forest (207).

Girls Individual Results
Allie Gullquist, Anne Thomas Steele, Lacy Jennings, and Kate Bassett (St. Catherine's) clocked a 1:50.34 in the 200 medley relay for first place.
Junior Rachel Naurath of Collegiate, who earned swimmer of the meet honors, set two meet records in the 200 and 500 freestyles with times of 1:49.88 and 4:46.78 respectively.

Chloe Grishaw (Potomac) won the diving competition (362.50), followed by Paul VI Catholic's Alexa McCarthy (325.70) and Trinity Episcopal's Nicole Cochran (297.30).

The quartet of Jennings, Elaine Farmer, Nina Vivadelli, and Bassett won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:39.15.

Jenna Jacoby (Flint Hill) won the 200 IM and 100 backstroke with times of 2:06.93 and 58.66 respectively.

Freshman Gabrielle Bishop (Nansemond-Suffolk Academy) won the 50 (23.88) and 100 (52.34) freestyles.

Trinity Episcopal closed the meet with a meet record in the 400 freestyle relay (3:36.20). Maggie Sweeney, Casey Sweeney, Meredith Thompson, and Erin Bartholomew contributed to the win.

Boys Individual Results
Collegiate's Alex Lutterbein, Stuart Ferguson, West Cuthbert, and Conor Blackwood opened the meet with a first-place finish and meet record in the 200 medley relay (1:36.54). Blackwood also won the 200 IM (1:54.55).

James Ross of Collegiate secured first place in the diving competition with a score of 417.60. Billy Miller (St. Christopher's) took second (291.35) and Mike Bedford (Norfolk Academy) placed third (285.55).

Swimmer of the meet Stuart Ferguson (Collegiate) set meet records in the 100 butterfly (49.75) and the 100 breaststroke (54.17).

Fork Union Military Academy touched out Collegiate by .01 seconds in the 200 freestyle relay. Hussein Mohamed, Jake Humphrey, Sherif Ibrahim, and Blake Sundel finished first with a time of 1:24.82. Mohamed had an individual win in the 100 freestyle (45.31) as well.

Seton's Jameson Hill had individual wins in the 200 (1:38.59) and 500 (4:29.41) freestyles.

Junior Zach Ingold (Woodberry Forest) took first place in the 50 freestyle and the 100 backstroke with times of 20.96 and 52.46 respectively
Collegiate's Mac Anthony, Thomas Stephens, Brooks Ross, and Blackwood took first in the 400 freestyle relay (3:08.79).
