MANASSAS, Virginia, February 23. ST. CATHERINE'S School and Fork Union Military Academy won the Virginia Independent High School State Championships. On the girls' side, St. Catherine's tallied 381 points followed by Collegiate School (262) and Seton School (221). Meanwhile, the Fork Union Military Academy boys won with 423 points, Collegiate School took second (312) and Woodberry Forest placed third (253).

Girls Results
Bishop Ireton's Maddie Zeigler, Liz Collins, Alina Hall, and Saskia Kroesen won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:51.43. Collins also won the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.99.

Gabrielle Bishop (Nansemond-Suffolk Academy) set meet records in the 200 freestyle (1:49.75) and the 100 backstroke. She erased a 16-year-old record from the books in the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.13. The previous record (57.82) was set by Bess Frank (Norfolk Academy) in 1994.

Chloe Grishaw (Potomac School) won the diving competition with 341.35 points. Collegiate's Neena Maizels and Trinity Episcopal School's Nicole Cochran followed with scores of 322.20 and 282.75, respectively.

Lauren Donohoe (Seton) broke the 25-second barrier in the 50 freestyle (24.84). She teamed up with Alex Doonis, Cat Rogers and Laura Talbot for a win in the 200 freestyle relay (1:40.05).

Collegiate's Rachel Naurath won the 100 butterfly and the 500 freestyle (4:47.09). She set a meet record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.33. The previous record (56.17) was set by Madeira's Leigh Psaris in 2006.

Eighth-grader Mary Katherine Kish won the 200 IM with a time of 2:08.55. She joined Katie Wiltshire, Kate Byron and Naurath for a first-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay.

Boys Results
Fork Union Military Academy won two of three relays. Tony Romanini, Blake Sundel, Jorah Gebert, and Jake Humphrey set a meet record in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:34.48. Romanini also won the 200 IM in 1:53.25.

Jameson Hill (Seton School) won the 200 (1:38.81) and 500 freestyles. He set a meet record in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:28.82.

Woodberry Forest's Zach Ingold was a dual event winner in the 50 and 100 (45.36) freestyles. He set a meet record in the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.65. The previous record (20.77) was set last year by Collegiate's Stuart Ferguson.

Sundel, Matt Morio, Humphrey, and Romanini won the 200 freestyle relay (1:25.57).

Top finishers in the diving competition include James Ross (Collegiate School) (453.35), Mike Bedford (Norfolk Academy) (299.70), and Steve Ebeling (Trinity Episcopal School) (247.80).

Collegiate's Thomas Stephens won the 100 butterfly with a time of 50.40. He teamed up with West Cuthbert, Peter Ferguson and Wil Coor for a first-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (3:10.11).
