NEW COMMIT: Marist College has received a new commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Jacob Macrina of Fairfax Station, Va.

He told Swimming World:

“I am very excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career at Marist College. Thank you to all of my coaches, teammates, and family members who have helped me get to this point. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the next four years.”

Macrina, who does his club swimming with Mason Makos Swim Team, most recently earned three best times at the PV DMV Showcase in January. He won the 200 back at the MAKO Holiday Invite in December and had a strong showing at the Potomac Valley Junior Championships in March 2020.

His best times include:

  • 50 back – 24.50
  • 100 back – 51.85
  • 200 back – 1:53.31
  • 200 IM – 1:56.94

Also competing for Lake Braddock High School, Macrina placed eighth in the 100 back and ninth in the 200 IM at the Virginia Class 6 State Championships during his senior season.

Macrina will add valuable depth to the Red Foxes’ lineup when he arrives on campus as a member of the Class of 2025. He would’ve ranked fourth on their lineup last year in both backstroke events and fifth in the 200 IM.

Under head coach Larry VanWagner, Marist finished second overall in the team standings at the 2020 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships.
