Virginia 6A State Runner-Up Victoria Valko Verbals to Florida State for 2023

NEW COMMIT: Florida State University has received a new verbal commitment for the 2023-24 season and beyond from Junior National qualifier Victoria Valko of McLean, Virginia.

She will join Cadence Fort in Tallahassee as a member of the Seminoles’ Class of 2027.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so excited and honored to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Florida State University! I want to thank my coaches, friends, and family for their support over the years. GO NOLES!!#fearthespear”

A sprinter, Valko trains year-round with Machine Aquatics and earned three best times at the NCSA Championships in March where her highest finish was a 19th-place showing in the 100 free. Last summer, she had a stellar performance at NCSAs, going best times in all her events and posting three top-25 finishes.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free- 23.57
  • 100 free- 50.43
  • 200 free- 1:51.57
  • 100 back- 57.61
  • 100 fly- 56.20

A rising senior at Langley High School, Valko placed second in the 100 free and seventh in the 50 free at the 2022 Virginia Class 6A State Championships. She finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.
