Video Interview: Zach Switzer Doesn’t Need Pump-Up Music to Swim Fast

RICHMOND, Virginia, February 18. ZACH Switzer was impressive at the 2013 Virginia Independent Schools swimming and diving championships, winning the 200 IM and 100 backstroke in meet record times.

In this video interview with Swimming World's Shoshanna Rutemiller after the first day of competition, Switzer talked about his mental preparation for the 200 IM, which came almost immediately after the 200 medley relay. Switzer seemed to buck the tradition of swimmers listening to music before a race to get themselves amped to swim fast, but his process of staying inside his own mind worked wonders for the senior from Woodberry Forest. He also talks about choosing to attend Virginia Tech for college and what attracted him to stay in Virginia.
