Stanford’s Simone Manuel took second in the women’s 100 free on night one of the 2017 Phillips 66 National Championships. She finished in 53.05 and will represent Team USA at the World Championships next month for the third time in her career.
The four-time Olympic medalist talks about how her time wasn’t where she wanted it to be but is pleased that it was faster than her swim at Olympic Trials last summer. Manuel also discusses how she shifted her focus from Rio to her college team last year and is excited to be on a relay again with her teammate Lia Neal.
