Nathan Adrian punched his ticket to Budapest in the men’s 100 free on night one of the 2017 Phillips 66 National Championships. The five-time Olympic gold medalist stopped the clock in 47.96, only .01 ahead of runner-up Caeleb Dressel.

Adrian discusses working on his front half of the 100 free and how USA Swimming has helped him learn how to get faster. This is the first time in history that two men have broken 48 seconds in the 100 free final at Nationals, and Adrian noted the implications of that fact for the U.S. men’s 400 free relay.
