Madison Kennedy claimed the National title in the women’s 50 free with a swift time of 24.73. The time improved upon her best time by two one-hundredths of a second, and she maintained her spot in the world rankings at 15th. She edged Amanda Weir for the title as Weir finished second in 21.85.
Kennedy talked after the race about swimming a lifetime best but explained why the time still frustrated her. She also explained her expectations for the 100 free later on in the week and told an interesting story from the morning prelims involving a starting block and a spider.
