Katie Ledecky achieved another first for herself with a 3:57 showing in the women’s 400 free, a time that she had passed previously on her way from a 3:58 to her 3:56.46 World Record from Rio. Ledecky’s time from tonight stands as the second fastest in history and posted a new U.S. Open Record.
When asked if she took notice when Australia’s Ariarne Titmus posted a 4:00 at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Ledecky admitted to the media that “I follow swimming. I’m a swim nerd…it’s motivating to see fast swimming around the world. It always provides a little extra push.”
She continued to explain that she has built a lot of confidence in her training over the past six weeks and talked about how she’s excited for Canadian Olympian Taylor Ruck to join the Stanford training group next year.
Ledecky also talked about her decision to become a professional swimmer and how it feels to be a professional swimmer so far.
