Allison Kopas has sent her verbal commitment to the University of Nebraska. Kopas swims for Head Coach Dave Gibson at Swim Fort Lauderdale. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American attends University School.
Kopas said of her decision,
“I am very excited to announce my commitment to be part of the Nebraska swimming family. Nebraska has everything I am looking for in a school and has great opportunities academically and athletically. I am looking forward to the next phase of my life swimming for Coach Pablo and Coach Patrick as a Cornhusker!”
Her top times are:
100 back- 56.16
200 back- 2:01.29
200 fly- 2:03.44
200 IM- 2:03.73
400 IM- 4:18.82
Kopas joins a Nebraska Class of 2021 that also includes Sutton Marvin, Clara Walstad, Autumn Haebig, and Madison Coughlen. Coughlen is another versatile addition to the class and should be a good 200 butterfly training partner for Kopas if the two both head in that direction.
When Kopas enters the Big Ten Conference in the fall she’ll offer a boost to the Cornhuskers. Kopas would be a 400 IM C finalist at last year’s meet, and the Husker’s highest finisher. In the 100 backstroke her best time puts her just a second shy of scoring.
