Versatile Abigail Thrall Gives Verbal Commitment to Bucknell Bison
NEW COMMIT: Bucknell University has picked up a verbal pledge for the fall of 2019 from versatile Abigail Thrall of Granby, Conn.
Thrall does her club swimming with West Hartford Aquatic Team and concluded a successful long course season with six best times and seven second-swims at the TYR ISCA Senior Championships. She earned the 200 fly silver and grabbed a trio of bronze medals at the WHAT Swimming Invite in February before going on to win the 200 IM at the Northeast Showcase in March. Thrall was also a two-time finalist at the 2017 Ithaca Speedo Sectionals.
She told Swimming World:
“I chose Bucknell University because it offers me the perfect balance of academics and athletics that I was looking for. The Patriot League, and Bucknell especially, is known for fostering an environment of excellence in both areas, and I’m beyond excited to be a part of Bison swimming for the class of 2023!”
Her best times include:
- 200 free – 1:54.29
- 500 free – 5:04.15
- 200 breast – 2:23.72
- 200 fly – 2:06.65
- 200 IM – 2:07.33
- 400 IM – 4:29.42
Thrall will make a big splash for the Bison when she arrives in Lewisburg as a member of the class of 2023 and will have two years to train with conference runner-up Maggie Wyngowski. She would’ve scored in the B-final of the 200 breast and 400 IM at the 2018 Patriot League Championships where Bucknell finished fourth overall in the team standings.
