NEW COMMIT: Poulsbo, Wash. native and current high school senior Eleanor Beers has announced her verbal commitment to Vanderbilt University and will arrive in Nashville at the start of the 2020-21 season.

Beers, who owns four Summer Juniors time standards, swims year-round with Bainbridge Island Swim Club and most recently won the 100m free and 100m fly at Mount Hood Futures. Last winter, she raced five events at Juniors West where she finaled in the 50 free before going on to register five top-6 finishes at Washington Seniors.

Also competing for North Kitsap Senior, Beers has won the 50/100 free combo and earned Swimmer of the Meet each of her three high school seasons thus far at the Washington 2A State Championships. During her junior season, the NISCA and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American led her squad to their first-ever state title.

She told Swimming World:

“I chose Vanderbilt because of the excellence both in academics and in athletics. Go ‘Dores!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 23.03
  • 100 free – 50.04
  • 100 fly – 54.75
  • 200 fly – 2:02.02
  • 100 back – 57.77

When she arrives on campus as a member of the class of 2024, Beers will add extremely valuable sprint free and fly depth to Vanderbilt’s lineup. Although she’s not in scoring range just yet at the SEC Championships, Beers has continuously made improvements each season with a year to go before suiting up for the Commodores.
