Vanderbilt Adds Verbal from North Carolina 3A State Runner-Up Alina Stout
NEW COMMIT: Vanderbilt University has received a new verbal commitment for the 2020-21 season and beyond from Charlotte, N.C. native Alina Stout who join Eleanor Beers in Nashville next fall.
A versatile swimmer, Stout does her club swimming with SwimMAC Carolina and most recently placed 20th in both the 50m free and 200m back at Greensboro Futures this past summer after finishing eighth in the latter at NC LCM Seniors. Last winter, she earned three best times at Juniors East before going on to final in a trio of events at the Southern Premier Invitational. Also competing for Charlotte Catholic High School, Stout earned silver in the 50 free and bronze in the 100 back during both her sophomore and junior seasons at the North Carolina 3A State Championships.
She told Swimming World:
“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Vanderbilt University! It is an absolute dream to have the opportunity to compete in the SEC and attend a school with such prestigious academics. - 50 fly – 26.81
- 100 fly – 55.72
- 200 IM – 2:08.90
- 100 back – 57.19
- 200 back – 2:00.43
- 50 free – 23.62
- 100 free – 51.19
- 200 free – 1:52.43
When she arrives on campus as a member of the class of 2024, Stout will add extremely valuable depth to Vanderbilt’s lineup across a range of events. Although she’s not in scoring range just yet at the SEC Championships, Stout has continuously made improvements each season with a few months still to go before suiting up for the Commodores.
