NEW COMMIT: The University of Utah has received their first verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond from Futures qualifier Landon Alarcon of Georgetown, Texas.

He will join his older brother, Greyson Alarcon, who swims for Louisville, in the NCAA.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I’m extremely excited to announce my commitment to the University of Utah to continue my athletic and academic career. I would like to thank my family, coaches, and my teammates who have gotten me to where I am today. Go Utes!!”

A talented breaststroker and IMer, Alarcon trains year-round with Nitro Swimming and most recently earned 100% best times at Austin Sectionals last month where his highest finish was a 16th-place showing in the 200m breast. Back in December, he placed 14th in the 100 breast and 15th in the 200 breast at the 18&U Winter Championships – NT LAC.

His best times include:

  • 100 breast – 57.26
  • 200 breast – 2:05.57
  • 200 IM – 1:51.59
  • 400 IM – 4:00.48

Also competing for Georgetown High School, Alarcon is a six-time individual Texas 5A State Championship finalist. He finished third in the 200 IM and eighth in the 100 breast as a junior while taking third and fourth, respectively, in those events during his sophomore season.

Alarcon would’ve ranked fifth in the 100 breast and sixth in the 200 breast on the Utes’ lineup last season, and he will surely see some time improvements with a year to go before arriving on campus.
