NEW COMMIT: Georgetown, Texas native Greyson Alarcón has announced his verbal commitment to Louisville and will join the Cardinals in the fall of 2019.

Alarcón swims year-round with Nitro Swimming and is a four-time Junior National qualifier with the U.S. Open standard in the 100m fly. He recorded a pair of lifetime bests at Juniors this summer and was a six-time finalist at Austin Sectionals. He raced six events at Juniors West last winter and had five second-swims at College Station Sectionals in March.

Alarcón is team captain and owns multiple program records for Georgetown High School. He was the runner-up in the 100 fly and finished third in the 100 back as a junior at the Texas 5A Championships while helping his 4×100 free relay to a State title. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American placed tenth in both events during his sophomore season and has earned two-straight District High Point awards.

He told Swimming World:

“I am excited to share that I have given my verbal commitment to the University of Louisville. After visiting the campus and meeting the coaches, team and academic advisors I knew exactly who I wanted to partner with to advance both in the pool and in the classroom. It is incredible how many resources and opportunities the Louisville program has for its athletes to be successful. It is an honor to join the University of Louisville Swim and Dive family. Go Cards!”

His best times include:

  • 100 back – 50.07
  • 200 back – 1:49.39
  • 100 fly – 49.26
  • 200 fly – 1:51.02
  • 200 IM – 1:53.51

When he arrives on campus as a member of the class of 2023, Alarcón will join a backstroke group that includes Nicolas Albiero and a fly group led by Nikolaos Sofianidis. Louisville finished second overall in the team standings at the 2018 ACC Championships.
