USC Trojans Land In-State Verbal from Junior National Finalist Vincent Cheng

NEW COMMIT: The University of Southern California has picked up a new verbal commitment for their growing class of 2025 from Vincent Cheng of San Dimas, Calif.

He will join fellow in-state standouts Mason Morris, Chris O’Grady, and Kevin Sichak in Los Angeles at the start of the 2021-22 season.

An extremely versatile swimmer, Cheng does his club swimming with Brea Aquatics and owns Junior National cults in a range of events. He most recently placed 10th in both the 200m fly and 400m IM at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Des Moines and placed sixth in the 200 fly and 13th in the 200 IM at Juniors West in December.

Last summer, he earned bronze in the 200m fly with three additional top-10 finishes before going on to placed 21st in the 100m fly at Junior Nationals.

His best times include:

  • 100 fly – 48.60
  • 200 fly – 1:45.79
  • 200 IM – 1:48.54
  • 100 free – 46.77
  • 200 free – 1:41.48
  • 500 free – 4:34.30
  • 200 back – 1:52.10

Also competing for Diamond Bar High School, Cheng raced the 100 fly at the CIF State Championships in 2019. The two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American won the 100 back and 100 fly at the CIF Southern D4 State Championships during his junior season as well.
