NEW COMMIT: Munster, Ind. native and current high school junior Holden Raffin has announced his verbal commitment to the University of Southern California beginning in the fall of 2020.

Raffin swims year-round with Munster Swim Club and owns five Winter Junior standards with the U.S. Open cut in the 100 back. He most recently competed at Indiana SCY Seniors where he broke the meet record in the 200 back after taking silver in the 100m/200m back at Indiana LCM Seniors this past summer.

Also competing for Munster High School, Raffin is a five-time Indiana State Championship finalist. He earned bronze medals in the 100 back and 200 IM as a junior after placing seventh and sixth, respectively, in those events during his sophomore season. He has also earned both NISCA and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors.

He told Swimming World:

“I am honored to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Southern California. I am beyond excited to further my swimming and academic career at one of the top universities in the country. I want to thank Coach Salo and the amazing USC staff for making me feel part of the Trojan family from day one. I also want to thank my family and coaches for getting me to this point. FIGHT ON!!!!”

His best times include:

  • 50 back – 22.27
  • 100 back – 48.00
  • 200 back – 1:43.37
  • 50 free – 20.76
  • 100 free – 45.36
  • 100 fly – 49.13
  • 200 IM – 1:48.65

Raffin will make an immediate impact for the Trojans, even with 1.5 years of club swimming still to go before arriving on campus at the start of the 2020-21 season. He would’ve scored in the B-final of the 200 back as well as the C-final of the 100 back at the 2019 Pac-12 Championships.
