USA Swimming Sectionals, Columbia: Nicole Menzel Downs 25-Year-Old Meet Record
COLUMBIA, Missouri, July 23. THE final day of long course meter racing at the USA Swimming Sectionals in Columbia is in the books.
Nicole Menzel from Razorback Aquatic Club broke a 25-year-old meet record in the women's 1500 free with a 16:49.95.
Rachel Ripley clinched the women's 200 IM crown in 2:19.85, while Kansas' Danielle Herrmann (2:20.60) and Stephanie Payne (2:21.30) took second and third. Jack Brown won the men's 200 IM in 2:04.92. KC Blazer Michael Glenn touched second in 2:09.86, while John Higgins placed third in 2:09.98.
Rockwood's Sean Feher claimed the men's 1500 free in 16:35.66, while teammate Jon Glaser placed second in 16:36.89. KC Blazer Austin Acheson wound up third in 16:46.81.
Kansas' Mari Mayrovich snagged the women's 50 free title in 25.90. Lisa Nathanson tied Rockwood's Lauren Votava for second with matching 26.53s. Arkansas' Nicholas McCarthy snared the men's 50 free in 23.74. Greater Omaha's Ryan Miksch finished second in 23.97, while John Krause placed third in 23.99.
