USA Swimming Sectionals, Columbia: Jack Brown Downs Another Meet Record
COLUMBIA, Missouri, July 22. JACK Brown continued to have a strong outing at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Columbia as he tracked down another meet record in long course meter racing.
Jack Brown downed the meet record in the men's 100 breast with a winning 1:03.86. That Trials cut time beat the 1:04.50 set by Roman Sludnov back in 2009. Razorback's Gage Crosby placed second in 1:05.11, while KC Blazer Griffin Peavey finished third in 1:05.99. Rachel Ripley cleared the Trials cut in the women's 100 breast with a 1:11.25 for the win. Wichita's Nicole Daniels took second in 1:12.79, while Danielle Spradlin placed third in 1:14.36.
Razorback's Nicole Menzel topped the women's 400 free in 4:21.27, while Kansas' Rebecca Swank finished second in 4:22.34. KC Blazer Katarine Sickle wound up third in 4:24.93. SwimTulsa's Eastman Holloway claimed the men's 400 free in 4:05.07. Wichita's Jared Roberts took second in 4:06.02, while KC Blazer James Foster finished third in 4:07.28.
Parkway's Heather Lundstrom held off Kansas' Stephanie Payne, 2:18.11 to 2:18.34, in the women's 200 fly. Club Huskers' Mariah Hutchinson wound up third in 2:19.72. Parkway's Nickolaus Orf captured the men's 200 fly in 2:05.95. Teammate Luke Schlueter took second in 2:06.61, while Edwardsville's Drew May earned third in 2:07.75.
Razorback's Elizabeth Braun snared the women's 100 back in 1:04.05, while Rockwood's Carol Rodriguez finished second in 1:04.29. Topeka's Emily Dicus finished third in 1:04.91. John Higgins snagged the men's 100 back in 57.84, while KC Blazer Seth Musser placed second in 58.26. Ryan Sellers rounded out the top three in 58.74.
