CLOVIS, California, July 20. THE first night of long course meter racing produced a pair of distance freestyle winners at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Clovis.
Terrapins's Chelsea Chenault snatched the women's 800 free crown with a time of 8:56.03, while Liliana Casso earned second in 9:03.32. Aquazot's Kendall Brown completed the podium with a third-place 9:03.86.
Eugene Tee claimed the men's 800 free title in 8:17.30. Jordan Wilimovsky (8:23.23) and Grant Schenk (8:23.51) completed the podium with second and third place finishes.
The first full day of competition begins tomorrow.
