GAINESVILLE, Florida, July 7. THE first night of long course meter action began with distance events at the USA Swimming Sectional held in Gainesville, Fla.
Alicia Mathieu topped the women's 1500 free in 16:33.55, while Gator's Andreina Pinto touched second in 16:44.91. Briana Emig of Fort Lauderdale Aquatics wound up third overall in 16:48.55.
Yoelvis Pedraza snared the men's 800 free title in 8:14.26, while Scarlet's Nicholas Ankosko placed second in 8:20.14. Metro's Carlos Omana completed the podium with a third-place 8:23.71.
Standard preliminary-finals action begins tomorrow.
