USA Swimming has announced the qualifying procedures for the 2018 Junior Pan Pacific Championships, scheduled for Aug. 23-27 in Fiji. The meet will showcase the top junior-level swimmers from the United States, Canada, Australia and Japan.

USA Swimming will pick up to 20 male and 20 female swimmers to swim at the meet, and swimmers must be between the ages of 13 and 18 on Dec. 31, 2018 — i.e., born in the year 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 or 2005. Athletes who are selected to compete in the senior edition of the Pan Pacific Championships (scheduled for Aug. 9-13 in Tokyo) will not be considered.

The top eligible athletes in every Olympic event will be selected, along with the No. 2 available swimmer in the 100 and 200 free. Additional No. 2-ranked swimmers and even No. 3-ranked swimmers will be added if there is space available.
