University of Findlay Picks Up Versatile Tim Stollings
NEW COMMIT: The University of Findlay has recently picked up a new verbal commitment from Prichard, W.Va. native Tim Stollings, who will join the Oilers as part of the class of 2023.
He swims year-round with the Tri-County YMCA Wild Waves, commuting over 100 miles daily to practice. At the YMCA Short Course Nationals back in April, he posted a sixth-place finish in the 100 fly (49.69) to achieve the Winter Junior National standard. Stollings, who is home-schooled, just wrapped up a successful long course season. At the West Virginia Long Course Championships in July, he was a seven-time champion and recorded two runner-up finishes.
He told Swimming World:
“My commitment to Findlay was a “no brainer.” Meeting the team only solidified my decision as I felt I was a part of the group from the beginning. It makes me beyond excited to join their family next year and achieve my goals, but most importantly do my part in launching the University of Findlay to the next level in swimming. Go Oilers!!”
His best times include:
- 100 fly – 49.69
- 100 back – 51.39
- 100 breast – 1:00.20
- 200 fly – 1:56.40
- 50 free – 21.40
- 200 IM – 1:58.36
- 400 IM – 4:17.27
Stollings will make a huge splash for the Oilers when he arrives on campus for the 2019-20 season and can be used in a number of different events. At the 2018 G-MAC/MEC Championships, he would’ve scored in the A-final of eight different events; his best 100 back time would’ve won and his fastest 100 fly would’ve secured the runner-up spot. Findlay earned their first-ever team championship title last season.
