UNC Tar Heels Gain Verbal from Cali Breaststroker/IMer Lexi Rudolph
NEW COMMIT: The University of North Carolina has secured a new verbal commitment for the 2020-21 season and beyond from breaststroker Lexi Rudolph of Los Altos, Calif.
Rudolph, who owns the U.S. Open cut in the 100 breast with the Juniors standard in the 200 breast, does her club swimming with Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics and recorded three best times at Futures this past summer. Last winter, she finaled in four events at Sectionals and notched a pair of lifetime bests at Far Westerns. Also competing for Mountain View High School, Rudolph is a six-time CIF Central Coast Section Championship finalist. She also placed eighth in the 100 free and 10th in the 100 breast at the 2019 CIF State Championships.
She told Swimming World:
“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to study and swim at the University of North Carolina! I would like to thank my family, coaches, and everyone else who has helped me along the way. Go Heels!”
Her best times include:
- 100 breast – 1:02.96
- 200 breast – 2:18.23
- 100 free – 50.33
- 200 IM – 2:05.09
Rudolph is just shy of scoring range at the conference level as it took a 1:02.07/2:16.17 to place in the 100/200 breast at the 2019 ACC Championships. When she arrives in Chapel Hill as a member of the class of 2024, she’ll add her talents to a training group that’ll be led by Lilly Higgs, Allie Reiter, and Caroline Hauder.
