NEW COMMIT: The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) has earned their first verbal commitment for the class of 2024 from Mount Wolf, Penn. native and current high school senior Nyah Stahl.

Stahl does her club swimming with York YMCA and most recently achieved three best times at YMCA LCM Nationals where she finished 23rd in the 200m back to earn her first Futures standard. She competed in the 200 back at YMCA SCY Nationals in April after recording four top-20 finishes at the Winterfest Championships in January.

She told Swimming World:

“I am beyond excited to announce my commitment to further my academic career and swim division 1 at UMBC next fall!! A huge thank you to everyone who has helped me get this far. GO DAWGS”

Her best times include:

  • 100 back – 59.23
  • 200 back – 2:05.34
  • 500 free – 5:12.38
  • 200 IM – 2:10.92
  • 400 IM – 4:32.02

Even with a year of club swimming still to go before suiting up for the Retrievers, Stahl will make a big impact in their backstroke and IM training groups. She would’ve scored in the A-final of the 200 back as well as the B-final of the 100 back and 400 IM at the 2019 America East Championships where UMBC earned the team title.
