UConn Sweeps Army
STORRS, Connecticut, November 11. LED by nine first place finishes women's swimming and diving defeated Army by a score of 161-131 on Saturday afternoon in the Wolff-Zackin Natatorium.
The win is the first of the season for the women, giving them a record of 1-2 in dual meet competition.
Danielle Sanders (Mississauga, Ontario), Juliet Paradine (Garden City, N.Y.), Kristalynn Kempton (Glen Head, N.Y.), Jordan Zarin (Rockville, Md.), Liza Marianni (Cherry Hill, N.J.), Emily Karel (Bethesda, Md.), Lisa Shelps (Quakertown, Pa.), Courtney Haney (Mesa, Ariz.) and Sarah Kearns (Milford, Mass.) all took wins in the 16 event women's meet.
The Huskies also compiled 10 second place finishes giving them a top-two finisher in 12 events.
In the men's meet, three swimmers won a pair of events each to lead UConn to a 157-143 win over Army. With the win the men move to a perfect 3-0 in dual meet competition this season.
Tristan Jones (Canberra, Australia) won the 100 breaststroke and the 200 IM, Abed Kaaki (Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia) took the 50 and 100 freestyle events and Adrian Astiz (Bethesda, Md.) swept the 100 and 200 butterfly races.
Chris Ferreira (Madison, Conn.) won the 100 backstroke event.
