UCLA Collects Four 2021 Verbals from Eva Carlson, Ana Jih-Schiff, Kathryn Lundh & Ashley Stenstrom

NEW COMMIT: UCLA has scored four verbal commitments for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Eva Carlson, Ana Jih-Schiff, Kathryn Lundh, and Ashley Stenstrom, all of whom will suit up for the Bruins as members of the class of 2025.

EVA CARLSON

A native of Portland, Ore., Carlson swims year-round with The Dolphins Portland Swimming and has already achieved the 2020 Olympic Trials cut in the 100m breast. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American finished sixth in the 100 breast and eighth in the 200 breast at Juniors West in both 2018 and 2019 after placing 12th in the 100m breast at Junior Nationals in August. A current junior at Catlin Gabel High School, Carlson won the 100 breast and 200 IM at the Oregon State Championships as a sophomore.

Her best times include:

  • 100 breast – 1:00.43
  • 200 breast – 2:12.49
  • 200 IM – 2:03.39
  • 100 free – 51.64

ANA JIH-SCHIFF

Ana Jih-Schiff ucla commitment 2020

Jih-Schiff of Danville, Calif. swims year-round with Crow Canyon Country Club Sharks and owns four Summer Juniors standards. She raced to 18th in both the 100 breast and 200 breast as well as 20th in the 200 IM at Juniors West last month after racing four events at Junior Nationals in August. Currently a junior at San Ramon Valley High School, the NISCA and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American placed sixth in the 200 IM and eighth in the 100 breast during her sophomore season while taking 11th and sixth, respectively, during her rookie season at the CIF State Championships.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so happy to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at UCLA! Thanks to everyone who helped me along the way! I am so excited to have this opportunity to be apart of the Bruin family. GO BRUINS”

KATHRYN LUNDH

Hailing from Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., Lundh does her club swimming with Team Elite San Diego and owns the Summer Juniors standard in the 100 fly. She raced two events at Junior Nationals this past summer and placed ninth in the 400 IM with a trio of lifetime bests at Carlsbad Speedo Sectionals in March. While representing Cathedral Catholic High School, the USA Swimming Scholastic All-American has competed at the CIF State Championships each of the past two seasons.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at UCLA!! I am so grateful for this opportunity and so happy to join the Bruin family! GO BRUINS!!”

  • 200 fly – 2:02.51
  • 200 IM – 2:04.75
  • 400 IM – 4:25.60

ASHLEY STENSTROM

Stenstrom, a native of Highlands Ranch, Colo., swims year-round with Denver Swim Academy and placed seventh in the 50m free this past summer at Far Westerns where she also achieved six best times after placing fourth in the 100m free at Colorado LCM Seniors. Also competing for Valor Christian High School, she raced to fourth in the 100 free and eighth in the 200 IM as a sophomore while taking ninth in the 100 free during her freshman season at the Colorado 5A State Championships.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I chose UCLA because it is an incredible opportunity to continue both my athletic and academic career. I love the location, beautiful campus, and amazing facilities that it has to offer. The coaching staff has developed an exceptional team atmosphere that I will be honored to be a part of in the future. I am also excited to continue growing both in and out of the pool with such a wonderful group of girls. A huge thank you to everyone who has been a part of this crazy college process — my current coaches, my future coaches, and my friends and family! I am so excited for everything that UCLA holds for the future… Go Bruins!”

  • 100 free – 51.26
  • 200 IM – 2:07.12
  • 100 fly – 58.82
