2014 Commonwealth Games gold medalist Ross Murdoch from Great Britain and Scotland announced via Instagram that he was signing with TYR. Murdoch is coming off a good summer where he finished fourth in the 200 breast final and swam on Great Britain’s medley relay in the prelims that ended up with a silver medal.
Murdoch joins an elite team of TYR sponsored swimmers led by Ryan Lochte and Matt Grevers. TYR also recently signed US Olympians Lia Neal and Leah Smith to their repertoire this past summer.
Murdoch missed a medal in the 200 breast at Worlds this summer but was the European Champion in the event in 2016 as well as the Commonwealth Games champion in 2014 in the event where he broke the European record (2:07.30) that still stands as the British record today.
Murdoch also has a good 100 breast, where he won the bronze in the 2015 World Championships and in the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Murdoch has been a little off his game the last few years in the 100 as he was 11th in Rio and 8th in Budapest in the 100.
Murdoch will have a chance to defend his 200 breast Commonwealth title at the Games in Gold Coast, Australia April 5-9.
Proud to be a part of the #TeamTYR family! Can’t wait to get back to racing with the support of @TYRSport 💪🏻 pic.twitter.com/A2o4nQmiqR
