Tynan Sets Second Record at ASA National Youth Championships

PONDS FORGE, Sheffield, England, Aug. 2. LOWRI Tynan added another record to her collection at the ASA National Youth and ASA Championships at the Ponds Forge International Sports Center

The 18-year-old won the 100-meter breaststroke, establishing a Welsh long course mark of 1.10.68 seconds; an improvement of .01 second.

Tynan, who has represented her country at the last two Commonwealth Games, comfortably won during the 100 breast. She finished ahead of Debbie Hall from Sheffield.

The men’s 50-meter butterfly wound up as an explosive head to head between the favorites Cranleigh’s Owen Morgan and City of Edinburgh’s David Leith.

Morgan set a Welsh record of 24.35 seconds in Tuesday’s semi-finals., but 26-year-old Leith, a Commonwealth Games semifinalist in Melbourne, took the title with a 24.52 ahead of Morgan’s 24.57.
