Two-Time South Carolina State Champion Clayton Boyles Commits to Wingate

NEW COMMIT: Bluffton, South Carolina native Clayton Boyles has committed to continue his swimming career at Wingate beginning this fall.

Boyles does his club swimming with Hilton Head Aquatics under head coach Mike Lane and concluded his summer season with four top-15 finishes at the South Carolina LCM Championships. He recorded five lifetime bests at the South Carolina SCY Championships last March where his highest finish was a ninth-place showing in the 200 breast. Also competing for Bluffton High School, Boyles won the 100 breast and was the 200 IM runner-up at the South Carolina 3A State Championships during his senior season. He also won the 100 breast as a sophomore.

He told Swimming World:

“I love the positive environment at Wingate that was shown in and out of the pool along with their enthusiasm and passion for sport of swimming.”

His best times include:

100 breast – 58.96
200 breast – 2:13.44
200 IM – 1:56.89
50 free – 22.50
100 free – 49.07

Boyles will make an immediate impact in the Bulldogs’ breaststroke group when he arrives on campus as a member of the class of 2023. He would’ve scored in the B-final of the 100 breast and the C-final of the 200 breast at the 2018 Bluegrass Mountain Championships where Wingate finished second overall in the team standings.
