NEW COMMIT: A native of Knoxville, Tenn., Addison Smith has verbally committed to Princeton University as a member of the class of 2023.

Smith swims year-round with Baylor Swim Club and owns seven Junior National cuts. She capped off an outstanding summer with two golds and a silver at Cary Futures where she earned a trio of U.S. Open cuts after winning five events at Southeastern LCM Championships. She achieved three lifetime bests at Juniors East last winter and was a five-time finalist at NCSAs in March.

Also representing Baylor School, Smith is a six-time TISCA State Championship finalist. The NISCA All-American won the 500 free and was the 200 free runner-up at State as a junior after finishing fourth in both the 500 free and 200 IM during her sophomore campaign.

She told Swimming World:

“So excited to announce my verbal commitment to Princeton University! I am grateful for the coaches, friends, and family that supported me along the way, and I’m looking forward to continuing to swim and study as a Tiger!  I am committing to the application process at Princeton University and will attend if admitted. Go Tigers!”

Her best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:47.89
  • 500 free – 4:48.18
  • 1000 free – 10:12.82
  • 100 fly – 55.32
  • 200 fly – 1:59.88
  • 200 IM – 2:02.33
  • 400 IM – 4:20.54

Smith will provide tremendous depth when she arrives on campus for the fall of 2019. She would’ve scored in the A-final of the 500 free, 200 free, 200 fly and 400 IM at the 2018 Ivy League Championships where the Tigers finished third overall in the team standings.

*IVY LEAGUE DISCLAIMER:* A “verbal commitment” does not guarantee admission. An Ivy League coach cannot guarantee admission but can only commit support in the admissions process.
