Tulane Green Wave Reels In Verbal From Mya Drost-Parra

NEW COMMIT: Boulder, Colorado’s Mya Drost-Parra has given her verbal pledge to Tulane University and will join the Green Wave as a member of the class of 2023.

Drost-Parra does her club swimming with Flatiron Athletic Club and has met the Winter Juniors standard in the 200 fly. She achieved four best times at Colorado LCM Seniors this summer after registering five finals appearances at Mount Hood Sectionals. She competed in four events at Juniors West last winter and had five top-30 finishes at Four Corners Sectionals in March.

Also swimming for Fairview High School, Drost-Parra is a four-time Colorado 5A State Championship finalist. She finished ninth in the 200 IM and 11th in the 100 back as a junior after placing ninth in the 200 IM and seventh in the 100 fly during her sophomore season.

She told Swimming World:

“I am so excited to announce my commitment to Tulane University. I am thrilled to join a new family. One of the reasons I chose Tulane was the unique people and amazing academics. As I walked around the campus, looking at the magnificent trees, I knew that this melting pot of culture would be the home for me. I know these next four years I will be happy to say “That’s right, I go to Tulane, one of the best schools in the country!”

Her best times include:

100 fly – 56.99
200 fly – 2:03.05
200 IM – 2:07.15
400 IM – 4:28.34

Drost-Parra will make a big splash for the Green Wave when she arrives on campus next fall. She would’ve scored in the B-final of both fly events as well as the 400 IM at the 2018 American Conference Championships where Tulane finished fifth overall in the team standings.
