Truman State Men Defeat Missouri-Rolla

KIRKSVILLE, Mo., November 19. THE Truman men's swim team recorded another win on Friday night, sneaking past home state rival Missouri-Rolla. The score, with just one race to go, had the teams separated by only two points. The Bulldogs had to win the 400-yard freestyle relay to capture the overall win and the end score was Truman 108, Missouri-Rolla 97.

After getting off to a slow start the 'Dogs had some catching up to do. Slowly but surely they reclaimed the lead to record the overall win giving them a 2-1 dual record on the season. They captured first-place in six of the 11 events at the dual meet.

Sophomore Josh Otis (Johnston, Iowa/Dowling) had an outstanding last leg of the 400 free relay, accompanied by junior Ashtyn Beek (Lincoln, Neb./South) and seniors Vince Struble (Omaha, Neb./Creighton Prep) and senior Robby Cooper (Holden, Mo.) who all helped bring home a first-place finish in that event.

Otis also helped record a first place finish in the 400 medley relay with senior Brian Teson (Kansas City, Mo./St. Pius X), senior Andy Harken (Liberty, Mo.), and sophomore Chris Brammer (Omaha, Neb./Burke) compiling a time of 3.32:54.

Other first place finishes were recorded by Cooper in the 500 and 1,000 freestyles and Brammer who claimed first in the 200 butterfly with a personal best time of 1.58:84. Junior Justin Brosseau (Rogersville, Mo./ Logan-Rogersville) recorded a personal best in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2.11:74.
