Triathlon Scheduled in Connecticut to Fight ITP

DARIEN, Connecticut, USA, September 1. DEDICATED to fighting Immune Thrombocytopenic Pupura, a bleeding disorder, the ITP Foundation will hold the Darien Sport Shop ITPMan Triathlon on October 1. The event will be held in the neighboring Connecticut towns of Darien and New Canaan. The Triathlon will be held in Olympic distance, a 1.5-kilometer swim, a 40K bike ride and a 10K run.

The field will be limited to the first 500 entries with a purse of $5,000 being paid out to the top three male and female finishers. Awards will also be distributed for the top finishers in various age groups. Registration for the triathlon is $80 through September 10, $90 from September 11-30 and $100 on competition day.

ITP is a blood disorder that affects the immune system and is found in roughly four in 100,000 children, causing spontaneous bruising and bleeding in the body. The ITP Foundation is a non-profit organization that raises awareness about ITP and helps fund research on the disorder and families who have been affected by the disease.
