NEW COMMIT: Frederick, Md. native Samantha Casolo, who owns the Winter Juniors cut in the 100 fly, has verbally committed to in-state Towson University and will suit up for the Tigers next fall.

Primarily a butterflyer, Casolo does her club swimming with Monocacy Aquatic Club and most recently placed 18th in the 100m fly and 19th in the 200m fly at Geneva Futures this past summer. Last winter, she recorded four best times at Maryland SCY Seniors before going on to finish 10th in the 100 fly and 12th in the 200 fly at Christiansburg Speedo Sectionals.

She told Swimming World:

“I am so exited to announce my commitment to swim and study at Towson University! I chose Towson because of the hardworking team atmosphere and strong coaching staff. The swim team at Towson feels like a family, and I can’t wait to spend the next four years as a tiger!”

Her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 56.33
  • 200 fly – 2:03.92
  • 200 IM – 2:12.50
  • 400 IM – 4:36.57

Casolo will make a big impact when she arrives on campus as a member of the class of 2024 as her best times already rank near the top of their lineup. She would’ve scored in the A-final of the 200 fly at the 2019 CAA Championships where Towson finished third overall in the team standings.
