Towson Snags Verbal From Poseidon’s Brendan Farrar
NEW COMMIT: Mechanicsville, Va. native Brendan Farrar has given Towson University a verbal commitment and will join the Tigers as a member of the class of 2023.
Farrar swims year-round with Poseidon Swimming and most recently competed at NCSAs where he recorded a pair of best times in both backstroke events. He was a five-time finalist at VA LCM Seniors with his highest finish being an eighth-place showing in the mile. He also recorded a trio of lifetime bests at NCSAs in March.
Farrar is a six-time Virginia 5A State Championship finalist competing for Lee Davis High School. He finished third in the 200 free and fifth in the 500 free as a junior after placing sixth and fifth in both events during his sophomore and freshman campaigns, respectively.
He told Swimming World:
“I chose Towson because the team is focused, driven, and goal oriented, all lead by a passionate coaching staff. I’m grateful that I have the oppurtunity to ontinue swimming and nd further my passion for education. I can’t wait to be apart of the TU Class of 2023! #gotigers”
His best times include:
- 200 free – 1:42.10
- 500 free – 4:40.45
- 1650 free – 16:07.00
- 100 back – 52.26
- 200 back – 1:53.14
When he suits up for the Tigers next fall, Farrar will join a mid-distance training group led by Hunter Wright and Evan Lynch and a backstroke group that includes Owen Robinson. Although he sits just outside of scoring range at the CAA Championships, he has made solid improvements over the past few seasons with a year of club swimming still to go.
