Third Annual GTAC Disability Open to Feature World and American Record Holders

YPSILANTI, Michigan, May 25. THE third annual Disability Open, hosted by the Greater Toledo Aquatic Club, takes place this weekend, May 27-28, at Eastern Michigan University. As in past years, it is expected that there will be several American record and some world-record swims by attending Paralympic medalists.

This is the third meet on the U.S.-Canadian Paralympic circuit for 2006, culminating in the US Championship Meet in San Antonio in August which will serve as the selection meet for the World Championships in Durban, South Africa in November.

Among the many athletes in attendance will be the following world-record holders: Curtis Lovejoy, Jessica Long, Michael Prout, Jarrett Perry and Travis Mohr, as well as several American record holders: Lantz Lamback, Rudy Garcia-Tolson, Aaron Paulson, Kelly Becherer and Elizabeth Stone.

Several members of the Canadian National team and international paralympians will be in attendance, along with U.S. veterans and many younger swimmers will also be competing for the first time. Prelims begin each day at 9 a.m. and finals start at 5 p.m. For meet info, see www.gtacswim.com.
