Texas Lands Two More Recruits; Purdue, Virginia Tech Claim Commits

PHOENIX, Arizona, October 15. WITH early signing day later this semester, recruits continue to commit to various colleges.

With a pair of Swimming World five stars, Lily Moldenhauer and Samantha Tucker, already pledged to Texas, the Longhorns added two four stars in the past day.

Four star Catherine Wagner made the call to Kim Brackin and committed. Wagner, who swims for Cypress Fairbanks and preps at Memorial High, owns a long course senior national cut in the 100-meter breast (1:12.30).

"I chose Texas because it has everything I'm looking for in both academics and athletics," Wagner told Swimming World. "When I was on my trip, I could tell that it was an amazing environment to train, compete, and improve both as a person and a swimmer. I loved the enthusiasm of both the coaches and the girls on the team, and I'm confident that they are the people I want to surround myself with for the next 4 years! It was just a perfect fit for me and I can't wait to continue my swimming career as a Texas Longhorn!"

Four star Marylyn Toledo also committed to Texas, giving Brackin four of the top recruits in the state of Texas. Toledo, who swims for the Dallas Mustangs and preps at Parish Episcopal, owns a long course senior national cut in the 100-meter fly (1:01.76).

With six star Elizabeth Beisel rumored to be down to California, Florida and Texas for her choice, Brackin could be looking at a third-straight special recruiting class.

A pair of four star recruits also became the first public commitments to their universities.

Aubree Duncan, who swims for Chattahoochee Gold and preps at Etowah, verballed to Virginia Tech. Duncan owns a long course senior national cut in the 200-meter back (2:18.63).

Emily Fogle, meanwhile, committed to Purdue. Fogle, who swims for the Patriot Aquatic Club and preps at Barrington High, holds a long course senior national cut in the 100-meter breast (1:10.97), and an NCAA Division I B cut time in the 100-yard breast (1:02.61).
