NEW COMMIT: Texas A&M University has picked up a new in-state verbal commitment for the fall of 2020 from Round Rock, Texas native Jade Hallum.

Hallum does her club swimming with Austin Trinity Aquatic Club under head coach Doug Russell and owns three Winter Junior standards. She raced four events and notched a personal best at Juniors West in December and finaled in four events at College Station Speedo Sectionals last March. She capped off an extremely successful long course season at ISCA Seniors last summer where she finished second in the 100m free and third in the 50m fly and 200m free.

A current junior at Saint Dominic Savio Christian High School, Hallum is a four-time Texas TAPPS DII State champion. She won the 50/200 free as a sophomore after placing first in the 200 free and 100 fly during her freshman season. She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for her efforts.

She told Swimming World:

“I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Texas A&M! I want to thank my coaches, family and teammates for all the support on this amazing journey. I can’t wait to join the Aggie Family. Gig ’em!”

Her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 55.17
  • 50 free – 23.80
  • 100 free – 50.25
  • 200 free – 1:49.94
  • 500 free – 5:00.51

Hallum will also join Alaya Smith as a member of the Aggies’ class of 2024. Although she’s not in scoring range just yet at the SEC Championships, she has made continuous improvements each season with 1.5 years of club swimming still to go before arriving in College Station.
