NEW COMMIT: Notre Dame has received a new verbal commitment for the 2020-21 season from Nashville, Tenn. native and high school junior Kallie Chelsvig.

Chelsvig, who owns seven Winter Juniors (or faster) standards, does her club swimming with Ensworth Aquatics. She most recently raced five events at Juniors East in December and capped off her summer long course season by racing four times at Junior Nationals. She earned seven lifetime bests at the Southeastern SCY Championships last February where she won the 200/500 free as well as both backstroke events.

Also competing for Ensworth High School after transferring from Hillsboro, Chelsvig is a six-time TISCA Tennessee State Championship finalist. She most recently won the 100 free and placed second in the 200 free as a junior after placing third in the 200 free and second in the 100 back during her sophomore season. Chelsvig has also earned NICSA All-American honors for her efforts.

She told Swimming World:

“I could not be more excited and blessed to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at the University of Notre Dame!! Thank you to everyone that has made this dream a reality!! Couldn’t be prouder to say GO IRISH”

Her best times include:

  • 100 back – 54.24
  • 200 back – 1:58.35
  • 50 free – 23.30
  • 100 free – 49.80
  • 200 free – 1:47.17
  • 500 free – 4:51.78
  • 100 fly – 55.01

Even with 1.5 years of club swimming still to go before suiting up for the Irish, Chelsvig would’ve scored in the C-final of the 200/500 free at the 2018 ACC Championships and is just on the edge of scoring range in all other events.
