NEW COMMIT: Butterflyer Margaret Marando of Dublin, Ohio, has verbally committed to the University of Tennessee beginning in the fall of 2020.

Marando does her club swimming with the United Swim Association and owns the Winter Juniors standard in both fly events. She most recently competed at the MAKO Senior Circuit where she won the 100 fly after achieving four best times at the TYR Winter Invitational. This past summer, she placed 13th in the 100m fly and 18th in the 200m fly at Richmond Futures. A current high school junior, Marando just returned from the USA Swimming Leadership Summit in Colorado Springs, Colo.

She told Swimming World:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Tennessee! A huge thanks to my family and coaches for supporting me through this process! Can’t wait to spend 4 years of my life in a place that feels like home! Go Vols! #rockytop”

Her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 54.70
  • 200 fly – 2:00.85
  • 50 free – 23.88
  • 100 free – 51.97

When she arrives in Knoxville as a member of the class of 2024, Marando will add valuable fly depth to the Vols’ lineup and will add her talents to a training group that’ll include Trude Rothrock, Mallory Beil, Megan SichtermanNikol Popov and McKenna Morello.
