Women’s 200 Free

Just ten minutes after posting the world’s fastest time in the women’s 200 back, Canada’s Taylor Ruck was in total control of the race in the 200 free. The 17-year-old was one of five teenagers in the ‘A’ final field and demonstrated her ability to quickly recover from a tough double. The five teenagers finished first through fifth respectively in the heat.

Ruck jumped to a quick lead in the race and only grew stronger, posting a final time of 1:56.85. Her time moves her to fourth in the world rankings for 2018.

China’s Jianjiahe Wang continued the teenage domination with a second place showing of 1:57.60, earning herself a spot in the top ten world rankings for 2018.

Fellow Canadians Rebecca SmithPenny Oleksiak, and Kayla Sanchez collected third through fifth place finishes with times of 1:59.1, 1:59.32, and 2:00.29 respectively.
