Swimming World Six-Star Promotions: Nick D’Innocenzo, Christine Olson, Amber McDermott

PHOENIX, Arizona, December 12. OVER the past week, three more high school swimmers have ascended to the top of the ladder in the Swimming World College Recruit Rankings powered by Take Your Marks. Nick D'Innocenzo, Christine Olson and Amber McDermott have all reached Swimming World six-star status.

D'Innocenzo, a Texas signee, has a pair of top times that would have put him into the NCAA Division I Championship A finals last year with fast readouts in the 200-yard IM (1:44.18) and 400-yard IM (3:43.36). He is now the second male to achieve six stars in the Class of 2009.

Olson, who has committed to Virginia, posted a time of 2:10.02 in the 200-yard breast for Brophy East. That time is fast enough to clear the time it took to get into the A final of the event at last year's NCAAs. Her six-star promotion increased the total number of the females at that level in the Class of 2009 to eight.

Last night at the USA Swimming Short Course Junior Nationals, Amber McDermott of Salmon Bay checked in with a sterling time of 4:38.89 in the 500-yard freestyle to become the first member of the Class of 2011 to earn six stars.

If you know of anyone else of high school age that has recorded a time that would have put them into A finals at last year's NCAA Division I Championships, please let us know via Reaction Time.
